Rwanda and the Republic of Guinea, a West African country also referred to as Guinea-Conakry, signed a cooperation agreement in the field of agriculture and animal resources, on June 3.

The agreement was signed in Kigali by Rwanda’s Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Ildephonse Musafiri, and his Guinean counterpart Felix Lamah.

On January 26, President Paul Kagame and the President of Guinea-Conakry, Mamadi Doumbouya, expressed interest in furthering relations between their two countries for the benefit of their people. They made the commitments in their press statements during Doumbouya’s official state visit to Rwanda.

The existing relations between both countries feature various areas of cooperation. On March 9, 2016, during Kagame’s visit to Guinea, the two countries signed bilateral agreements meant to foster cooperation in different areas.

The agreements signed at the time include a visa waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic, service, or official passports, and issuance of visas at entry points to the territory for holders of ordinary passports; a cooperation agreement in the fields of health and medical sciences; MoU for Cooperation in the field of the Environment and the Management of Natural Resources; and a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA).
