AS Kigali are optimistic about their chances of sealing qualification to the final round of the 2022-2023 CAF Confederation Cup when they visit Al Nasr.

The return leg is scheduled for Sunday, October 16, at Stade Martyrs located in Benina, Libya.

The team has to avoid a loss in the return leg so as to sail through.

A draw will see AS Kigali reach the final round of the Confederation Cup after the Citizens played a goalless draw in the first leg in Huye.

Forward Haruna Niyonzima who is the skipper of the team has faith in his squad ahead of the match. Niyonzima said his team will put up a do or die show in their away game.

"We are well prepared for the task ahead. We are ready to get the result expected of us. We need to play well and, to be honest, we have to be a better team for larger parts of the game and use our chances,” Niyonzima noted after Wednesday’s training session.

"We just need to be focused for the whole game because if we don’t, Al Nasr may punish us. We are in good position and we’re confident that we can beat Al Nasr. It’s a good side. So, we need to be ready, mentally and physically,” he added.

A draw of goals away from home will not be a bad result for the Peace Cup winners.

"The confidence and motivation is there after qualifying for the World Cup so let’s make the most of it by winning the game.”

"Against Al Nasr, the teamwork was formidable and I commend the guys for believing and fighting until the last second of the game,” Niyonzima noted.

AS Kigali, winners of the 2022 Peace Cup, reached the second round of the continent’s second-biggest club competition after seeing off Djibouti’s ASAS Djibouti, 1-0, in the preliminary round.
