Police (men) and APR (women) volleyball clubs claimed the 2024 volleyball Genocide Memorial Tournament on Sunday night after defeating Gisagara and Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) respectively in the finals held at Des Anges court.

Police, winners in men category, took control of the game from the get-go, winning the first set 25-22 and the second 25-19 before finishing the business by taking the third set 25-18.

"This is an important win for us because we really wanted to get our hands on this trophy, our first GMT title. I am very happy for my players,” an excited Police coach, Fred Musoni, told Times Sport after claiming the title on Sunday.

In the women's category, APR clinched the title after overpowering Rwanda RRA in three straight sets, 25-23,25-19 and 25-22 to win the title. It the second trophy the Peter Kamasa’s side won within just a week.

On top of the trophy and medals, the winners in both men and women’s categories pocketed Rwf1000,000 apiece while the finalists walked away with Rwf 700,000 while the second runners-up, APR (men) and Police (women), bagged Rwf 500,000 apiece.
