Felicien Muhitira clocked one hour, five minutes and 31 seconds to claim gold at the inaugural Huye Half Marathon in women’s category, with the top prize in women’s section going to Marthe Yankurije.

Muhitira 26, beat off stiff challenge from rivals Emmanuel Mutabazi, who used 1:06:39, and Sirage Rubayita who won bronze after using 1:07:08 to run the 21km distance.

In women’s fray, Yankurije set a new personal best of 1:15:15 to win gold. Adeline Musabyeyezu (1:18:49) finished second, followed by Clemantine Nyiranizeyimana (1:21:20) who completed the podium.

The race attracted about 1,500 participants.
