The Rwanda Movie Awards is extending its boundaries this year, encompassing its neighbours.
Participating countries this year will include Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi, DR Congo and Uganda.
Requirements for applications that were open on January 15 include proof of ownership of movie and the movie must have been released in 2018 or 2019, for Rwandan movies, while international films must have been released in 2019.
This year’s activities will see a Rwandan movie being shown in different towns around the country, take different actors outside Kigali to meet their fans, an exhibition of Rwandan movies, and will take Rwandan movie producers on benchmark visits abroad.
Winners for the categories of Best film of the year, Best short film, Best Documentary, Best series, Best Web series, Best Animation, Best Director, People’s choice male, People’s choice female, Best actor, Best actress, Best supporting actor, Best supporting actress, Best D.O.P, Best Editor, Best Sound, Best screenplay (story), Best original sound tracks, Best lighting will be awarded on March 7.
