Mukura VS striker Bertrand Iradukunda tries to go past APR FC Left back Emmanuel Imanishimwe during the league match last year.

After falling out of the title race, Mukura Victory Sports have set themselves a target to finish in the top four in the Rwanda Premier League, head coach Spain Tony Hernandez has said.

The Spaniard made the remarks after his team fought back to see off stubborn Sunrise 4-1 on Sunday at Huye Stadium.

"We dropped many points in the first round, we had a problem of consistency but we sat down and talked about our problems and now we have started to gain confidence,” Hernandez said.

Forward Vedaste Niyibizi scored the opening goal for Sunrise while Evode Ntwali equalised before Jean Bertrand Iradukunda scored for Mukura as Hernandez’s team leapfrogged SC Kiyovu into fourth position with 28 points while Sunrise remains 10th with 20 points.

He admitted that his side has been struggling to earn points which cost them dearly in the title race adding that, "our aim is to finish in a better position; we can finish in the top three. We have to give our best in the next games to see if we can catch Police”

Mukura are in fourth place with 28 points six behind third placed Police while they are ten points behind leaders APR and seven behind defending champions Rayon Sports who are on second on the league log.

Up next for the Huye based side is a trip to Musanze on Sunday for the game against 13th-placed Musanze FC (16 points) at Ubworoherane stadium.

Meanwhile on Tuesday Mukura will get a new assistant coach Sanchez Samyr from Venezuela.
