It’s with a sense of shock that I read that the East African Commission is facing financial difficulties; in fact, going as far as accusing Rwanda, falsely, of not paying its yearly dues to the Arusha-based organisation.

While the Rwandan Minister of East African Affairs Monique Mukaruliza has refuted the claims, the issue of non-payment of dues far reaching consequences.

The dream of an E.A.C, that can actually benefit the citizens of all member states, is one that can be derailed by small factors. One of these factors is the wish by some to forego their obligations.

It’s simple; if you want an E. A.C. that works, you’ve got to support it. Not only in words, but actions as well. Pay your dues.
