Closing out the busy month of May, Kigali witnessed a whirlwind of activity, from the intense BAL playoffs and finals, to the highly sought-after Dave Chappelle show, leaving residents with excitement. As June approaches, The New Times continues to be your go-to guide for navigating the city's events.

Today, we bring you eight exciting things to try out.

La Cachette Urban Fridays & Sunday Magic Show

Tonight, Friday, May 31, La Cachette presents its lively Urban Fridays party starting at 7 pm. Attendees will be treated to music by DJ Kelly 250, along with tapas, Italian cocktails, French wine tasting, and a dance performance by Move Africa. Entry is priced at Rwf5,000, and early birds will receive a gift pack if they arrive before 9 pm.

Additionally, magician Pierre Fasan will host a magical evening at the same venue on Sunday. Admission is Rwf10,000 for adults and Rwf5,000 for children aged 6 to 12.

Ibihe Biha Ibindi One-Man Stand-up Comedy Special

"A hilarious journey through time," says renowned local comedian Babu Joe, describing his upcoming one-man show this Friday, May 31. Promising a night filled with storytelling and rib-cracking humor, Babu Joe will be accompanied by his acoustic guitar, delivering a unique blend of entertainment.

The event will take place at L’Espace, located at 11KG 28Ave, from 7 to 11 pm. Admission is Rwf7,000.

BAL Finale and After Party

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2024 championship is set to culminate in a showdown between Libya’s Al Ahly Ly and Angola’s Petro de Luanda at BK Arena on June 1st at 4 pm CAT.

Ready for the afterparty? Get ready to groove as Diamond Platnumz's official DJ, Romy Jons, takes the stage at Crystal Lounge for the official BAL after-party on Saturday, kicking off at 6 pm.

Strictly Soul

Prepare for Africa’s ultimate R&B extravaganza as the From Africa with Love tour reaches its penultimate destination this Friday!

Renowned as Africa's most Shazam-ed DJ, DJ Akio Kawahito will be spinning timeless hits alongside special guest DJs Nicolas Peks and Afrogroov. Join the party at Atelier du Vin, KN3 Road, within Akagera Motors and Marketplace, from 7 pm to 2 am. Admission at the door is Rwf20,000.

Shunya Sound Circle

Experience the power of "Shunya," meaning "nothingness," at a gathering focused on healing and vibration through music and meditation.

"I play the ukulele and sing songs for ancestors and nature," shared Ashena Ashes, the curator, ahead of the session on Saturday, June 1.

Following a successful event in Jinja, Uganda, Ashena brings her unique offering to Rwanda, inviting locals and foreigners alike to join in. Admission is Rwf5,000, and if you have an instrument, bring it along—there's plenty of music-making to go around. The venue is L’Espace at 11KG 28Ave, starting at 4 pm.

Marriage Life Enrichment Conference

Whether you're married or single with aspirations for marriage , consider attending the Marriage Life Enrichment Conference, running from Friday to Sunday, June 2nd, every day from 5 pm at New Life Bible Church in Kagarama, Kicukiro. Organizers promise a life-changing experience that will inspire all facets of marriages.

Speakers include Pastors Charles Mugisha, Florence Mugisha, Grace Serwanga, and Lincoln Serwanga.

Champions League Final Screening

Intore Sundays, one of the most popular events among Kigali's middle-class and expatriate community, will feature Kenyan DJ Fully Focus as the headliner, along with other surprise acts.

Tickets are available for Rwf15,000 for early birds or Rwf20,000 at the door. This edition will be held at Norrsken House Kigali from 2pm.
