It’s a fun-packed festive season and Kigali is increasingly becoming home to entertainment and showbiz for not only locals, but also Rwandans in the Diaspora. The New Times highlights the major entertainment events that are in store this season.
Izihirwe na Muzika
Ghanaian dancehall star Magnom is today performing in Kigali to close MTN Rwanda’s Izihirwe na Muzika campaign at Petit Stade’s main parking ground.
He’s sharing the stage with local artistes Riderman, Social Mula, and Bushali.
Entrance is free for regular section and the VIP wing goes for Rwf10, 000 and comes with a drink.
Christmas Cantata
The four-day event organised by the Nyarutarama-based Christian Life Assembly (CLA) is a one and a half-hour musical theatre production telling the story of Christmas. It will take place from December 21 to 24 and will feature four shows every evening from 6pm.

Christmas Kids Party
When it comes to entertainment during the festive season, children are not left behind and Sensitive Ltd has organised the Christmas Kids Party that will bring kids together on Saturday, December 21 at La Palisse Nyandungu for a special Christmas celebration.
During the show, children will participate in dance competitions, face painting and photo-shoots with their favourite artistes including Bruce Melodie, Social Mula and Yvery, as well as fast-rising comedy crew of Japhet and Etienne, all of whom are expected to perform.
Entrance fee is Rwf5, 000 per kid and free to the Kira Kibondo Account Clients of Bank of Kigali.
Chorale de Kigali Christmas Carols
Chorale de Kigali is gearing up for its annual Christmas carols concert slated for December 22, at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.
Chorale de Kigali will perform their annual Christamas Carols on December 21.
You can enjoy the opera-led music from the choir, which has established itself as an undisputed music choir in the Catholic Church and get into the Christmas mood earlier.
Entrance fee for the concert range from Rwf5, 000 for regulars, Rwf10, 000 for VIPs and Rwf15, 000 for VVIPs.
New Year Count Down
All roads will lead to Kigali Convention Center on December 31, as Congolese singer ‘Fally Ipupa’ headlines the New Year Countdown Concert slated for December 31.
The highly anticipated concert is expected to usher Rwandans and all revelers into the New Year with the venue’s sky set to be covered by fireworks. Rwanda’s DJ Toxxyk, DJ Shine from France, DJ Sinyorita from Tanzania and Feem Deejay from Uganda will spin to entertain concert-goers.
Limited tickets for regulars go for Rwf30,000 and Rwf50,000 for VIP.
Christmas Silent Disco
If you are a fan of silent disco, DJ Romy Jones, all the way from Tanzania’s Wasafi Records label, will be spinning the decks alongside a selection of Rwanda’s top DJs Miller, Toxxyk, Danches, Roger and VJ Mupenzi to wow music mix lovers during the Christmas Street Silent Disco at Fuchsia Bar Lounge. Entry fee is Rwf5, 000 regular and Rwf10, 000 (VIP).
More DJs will be rocking Musanze at another epic Christmas Gorilla Street Silent Disco with nine best DJs like DJ Diallo, DJ Phil Peter, DJ Anita Pendo, DJ Young and others, all looking to help Musanze Party people to celebrate Christmas Day in style.
Seka Live
After a successful comedy show in November, Seka Live, one of the biggest comedy shows in Rwanda, will be back on December 27 at Kigali Marriott Hotel, with standup comedian Lyino Madinga and Kenyan Eric Omondi joining Arthur Nkusi and other local comedians to give Rwandans a hearty laugh.
Entrance for the show goes for Rwf10,000 for regulars and Rwf20,000 for VIP.
The 600 screening
Those who missed out in July, especially members of Diaspora, will not have a reason to complain as The 600 film is coming back to Century Cinema on December 29.
The 600 documentary will be screening again at Century Cinema.
Healing Worship Team’s concert
If you are a gospel music fan, the Healing Worship Team will stage a live concert on Christmas Day, at Dove Hotel, Gisozi. Renowned gospel teams and artistes like Gisubizo Ministries, Alarm Ministries, Bosco Nshuti, and Prosper Nkomezi are expected to perform at the concert.
East African Party
As Rwandans usher in the New Year, US-based Rwandan singer The Ben will be headlining the New Year celebrations with Rwandans at the East African Party slated for January 1, at the Kigali Arena.
The annual entertainment event, which is organised by East African Promoters, will be an opportunity for Rwandans to celebrate what the country has achieved in line with Vision 2020.
The Ben will perform alongside other six local music superstars, including King James, Riderman, Andy Bumuntu and Knowless Butera, Bushali and Bruce Melodie.
