Amavubi head coach Thorsten Spittler has dropped five players from his squad as preparations for upcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho Intensify.

German tactician was reportedly not impressed by the players’ performances, hence showing them exit from camp.

The players dropped from the camp include Gorilla FC right-back Samuel Nsengiyumva and defensive midfielder Simeon Iradukuda, Bugesera FC goalkeeper Patience Niyongira, Police FC attacking midfielder Muhadjiri Hakizimana and Rayon Sports winger Arsene Tuyisenge.

Meanwhile, skipper Djihad Bizimana, who had an impressive season in Ukraine with FC Kryvbas, has joined the Amavubi camp together with debutant Dylan Georges Maes who plies his trade with FS Jelgava in Latvia. They both arrived in Kigali in the wee hours of Thursday, May 30.

Samuel Gueulette, who plays for Belgian First National League winners Raal La Louviere, will join the rest of the group on Thursday as well.
