Desires national team coaching role
Electrogaz Fc head coach Abdul Mbarushimana has joined the country’s elite professional coaches after being accorded with a Class A coaching license on Friday.
The Acting head of mission, German Embassy Wolfgang Niersbach, who handed the license to Mbarushimana at his residential home in Kigali, hailed the Rwandan coach for excellence and commitment which earned him the global recognised accreditation.
"Congratulations to Mbarushimana for your excellence and pride that you have brought to your country.
"Let the knowledge that you have gained be put to full use in the development of football in Rwanda,” Niersbach said, before commending a successful cooperation between Rwanda football federation (Ferwafa) and German football federation (DFB).
Niersbach further added that the Class A coaching license which was completed from September 1-25, 2008 in Germany entitles Mbarushimana to manage at the highest level.
Mbarushimana joins other local coaches, who have attained the same license in recent years. They include; Jean Baptista Kayiranga (Rayon Sport assistant coach), Eric Nshimiyimana (AS Kigali) and Alloys Kanamugire (commission in charge of youth development, Ferwafa).
On his part, Mbarushimana has set his eyes on bigger things already. He has stated his desire to have a role on the national team, the Amavubi Stars.
"It’s good that I have reached this level, and all I want is to manage a national team such that I can get exposure and gain much experience,” Mbarushimana said.
In his late 30s, Mbarushimana stared his coaching career in the second division, steering Electrogaz to the topflight division last year. He has also coached Volcanic, KIST, Kibuye and Police.
Electrogaz currently lies on fourth position of the national football league with 19 points in 13 fixtures.
Last year, up to 150 local coaches were awarded with level B and C license. The courses were given in the framework of developing and improving the level of Rwanda football trainers.
They (courses) are supported by the Germany’s DFB as part of the existing co-operation with the Rwanda’s Ferwafa.
The DFB-Ferwafa co-operation has not only targeted coaches but has improved football standards in the country.
It has given technical support to both the national team and youth football team ahead of crucial African championships.
