David Nkurunziza was, on Sunday, May 26, elected new president of Kiyovu Sports Association on a four-year term.

Nkurunziza won the elections during the club’s general assembly held on Sunday, May 26, replacing outgoing Jean-François Regis Ndorimana who resigned from the role in January.

The elections took place after the general assembly asked the executive committee which was in reign to resign to pave the way for new candidates to run for the top positions.

Being a relatively unpopular Kiyovu Sports fan didn’t stop Nkurunziza from winning the general assembly’s vote of confidence. He takes over office at the time the club has been struggling not only financially but also in administration.

Joseph Karangwa was elected club’s vice-president.

Former club president Juvénal Mvukiyehe was denied entry inside the room that hosted the general assembly despite claims that the club owes the businessman a staggering Rwf1billion.
