The Bright Five Singers, a group of Rwandan gospel singers, is in preparation for their annual thanksgiving concert slated for November 10 at Kigali Serena Hotel.

The choir, which regularly performs at St Michel Cathedral, is famous for its fascinating vocals, and the pop-opera music genre.

The group is made up of six members, with five vocalists; Prosper Kamanzi, Fabrice Karangwa Kwizera, Fabrice Niyonkuru, Denys Nzeyimana Nyituriki and lead singer Alain Marius Iraguha as well as their pianist Jean Marie Vianney Mugwaneza.

The concert was organised to celebrate, with its audience, its fourth anniversary since its inception in 2015 founded by former students, who graduated in Catholic colleges (Seminaire).

Though the group has known major changes, with some of its members exiting and welcoming new ones, it has established itself as an undisputed music group in the Catholic Church, and their uniqueness has given them an honor to perform at big concerts and participate in different religious festivals.   "It is a thanksgiving concert during which we will be celebrating four years of the group’s existence. Some members have since left but we wisely replaced them and we’ve had good progress in our career as a music group. That is why we are celebrating what we have been achieving so much together,” Iraguha told The New Times in a telephone interview.   "We want to thank God and the audience for what we achieved in our music so far and we are rehearsing to give our audience a variety of good music so they can enjoy every single second of our performance,” he added.

The Bright Five Singers are known for a number of worship songs which are mainly performed at church services. Some of the group’s songs include ‘Musabe Muzahabwa’, Dusingizimana and Uhoraho Aragukunda, among others.

The group will be performing live alongside Burundian music scholar Nicole and Huye-based band Salus Music Band.

Doors will be open from 6pm, with entrance fees ranging from Rwf5, 000 for regulars to Rwf10,000 for VIPs.

Tickets are already available on sale at Centre Saint Paul, Centre Christus, and Saint Michel Cathedral’s libraries, Paroisse Sainte Famille, Regina Pacis, Remera and Economat (at St Famille).
