The 2024 Basketball Africa League (BAL) playoffs are underway at BK Arena in Kigali from May 24 - June 1.

The competition has attracted eight teams: Nigerian Rivers Hoopers and Cape Town Tigers (South Africa), Angola's Petro de Luanda, US Monastir (Tunisia), Al Ahly SC (Egypt), Al Ahly Ly (Libya), FUS Rabat (Morocco), and AS Douanes (Senegal).

As the competition kicked off on Friday, The New Times Photographer Dan Gatsinzi through his lens captured different pictures of players in their gorgeous sneakers.

In basketball, sneakers are too synonymous with the game's culture.

Apart from being an accessory, on the court, sneakers also serve as an artistic form of expression.
