Rwanda has won the bid to host this year’s Miss Career Africa competition. The annual event will attract participants from the rest of East African countries, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Emmy Kwizera, the operations officer at Miss Career Africa organisation, said that Rwanda was nominated to host the regional event in East Africa.

"Preparations are already underway, and we look forward to hosting the competition,” said Kwizera, adding: "We want to give the girls with business concepts an opportunity to showcase their ideas and get funds to develop them.”

The best 15 among the 30 projects to be pitched will make it to the finals at Camp Kigali, on December 13. The winner receives a cash prize of US$5,000 to finance her project, a one-year full time job and a university scholarship in any of the African university/college of her choice.

The categories are; Miss Speaker, Miss Technology, Miss Hospitality, Miss Science, Miss Talent and Miss Art. The competition is designed for participants aged between 18 and 24, with a high school diploma, fluent in either French or English and with a competitive business idea.
