APR women volleyball team are upbeat to win this year’s Nyerere International Championship after getting off to a brilliant start yesterday.

At the week-long tournament, organised in the memory of Tanzania’s former President Julius Nyerere, APR started their title quest with an effortless win over home side Jeshi Stars in straight sets (25-11 25-14 25-9) in Arusha. 

The army side face Kenyan outfit Hakika in their second game Friday afternoon.

APR, who have not won the domestic league title since 2012, are winners the tournament's 2017 edition.
