The Veterans Club World Championship (VCWC) on Wednesday, May 22, inked a three-year partnership with Rwanda Cooperation Initiative (RCI) through which both entities committed to have mutual benefits.
The partnership comes just four months before the inaugural VCWC comes to Kigali from September 1-10.
The Rwandan capital will host the football tournament reserved for legends until 2026, the same year when the partnership between both parties will expire.
According to VCWC founder Fred Siewe, the partnership is a win-win for both parties with Rwanda set to gain big exposure worldwide through the tournament coverage.

"Rwanda Cooperation Initiative is bringing Rwandan expertise around the world and VCWC is bringing legends around the world, we have players who are coming from around 60 countries," Siewe told Times Sport after signing the partnership.
"We want legends who are coming to accelerate the agenda of the Rwanda Cooperation Initiative in their respective countries. Made in Rwanda products will be selling during the tournament which will be good for the economy."
On her part, Christine Nkulikiyinka, the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Corporation Initiative, stressed that the institution believes in partnerships and its benefits, which is why they didn't hesitate to partner with VCWC.
"The legends will get the chance to visit Rwanda which is ideal. The most important thing is the development associated with the competition which is good for our country and continent as a whole."
"The legends have huge followers and it is a big advantage for Rwanda to be marketed globally," she said.
More than 150 football legends from across the world will attend the tournament in Kigali. Some of the notable names includes Ronaldo Gaucho, Edmilson, Oliver Khan, Gaizka Mendieta, David Trezeguet, Michael Owen, Douglas Maicon, Jimmy Gatete, Patrick Mboma, Wael Gomaa and others.
