Patoranking

Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name Patoranking, is expected in Kigali tonight ahead of his performance at tomorrow’s Youth Connekt concert at Kigali Arena.

The concert is happening on the eve of the Youth Connect Africa summit 2019 slated for October 10-11 at Kigali Convention Centre Kigali.

The singer will be sharing stage along with Rwanda’s music super star Meddy, who will be looking to restore his confidence in fans after  enduring a disappointing night at last month’s Kwita Izina concert during which his anticipated one-hour performance was cut short after doing just four songs, leaving his fans around at the Kigali Arena into murmurs of dissatisfaction.

America Singer Ne-Yo was the concert’s main act.

On the list is also Bruce Melodie and Charly na Nina, who are fresh from entertaining the members of the diaspora who turned up for the just concluded Rwanda Day held in Bonn, Germany.

Meanwhile, local artistes, who had all previously performed at the Kwita Izina concert, have been doing rehearsals since the beginning of the week to ensure they deliver an even better performance.

A member of the concert organizing team confirmed to The New Times that Patoranking arrives in Kigali tonight so he can get time to rest and get ready to repeat or do better than what he did during last year’s New Year Countdown concert.

He also revealed that no entry fees were set because only participants who registered for the upcoming Youth Connekt Africa Summit 2019 will be allowed to attend the concert free of charge.

Chelsea Football Club legend and UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Didier Drogba will speak at the two-day long Summit.
