Feller urges his stars to avoid complacency

League table leaders APR visit Kibuye in the league this afternoon but coach Rene Feller wants his players to transform their form on the continent into the national league.

The military side eliminated Kenya’s Gor Mahia 6-0 on goals aggregate in the Caf Confederations Cup last weekend and followed it up with a 4-0 mauling of AS-Kigali in the league in midweek.

Yet Feller believes Kibuye, who have a very good home record, will be a hard nut to crack.

"We’re playing our best football at the moment but against Kibuye it’s going to be hard considering their offensive attitude when playing at home which is often helped by the poor nature of their grounds,” the Dutchman acknowledged.

Feller’s side lead the standings with 30 points, two ahead of the champions Atraco in second with another title challengers Rayon Sport a further four points in third.

As Feller seeks to maintain his team’s position at the summit of the table, the champions will be hoping to return to winning ways against Police at Mumena ground after two back-to-back draws.

After drawing 0-0 with Sudanese side El Merreikh in the MTN Champions League preliminary round a result which eliminated the Rwandan side from the competition, Sam Timbe’s team followed it up with a 1-1 draws with Kiyovu in the league.

"Police have improved a lot this season and it will be a tough game. This will be fiery encounter between two teams looking for wins.

"As defending champions, we definitely need to win this game if we’re to have any hopes of retaining our title, that’s why it’s very important for the players to forget about what happened in the last two games and concentrate on the challenge ahead,” Atraco assistant coach Emmanuel Ruremesha said. Elsewhere, Rayon Sport play AS-Kigali at Nyamirambo stadium.

The Blues have won their last two fixtures against Police and Mukura and will be hoping to make it three wins on the trot.

"Every game counts and we can’t afford to lose if we are to maintain that formidable chase for the title,” said coach Raoul Shungu.

On Sunday, the country’s two oldest clubs Mukura and Kiyovu will face off at Nyamirambo stadium. Kiyovu are on 11th position level with La Jeunesse on 10 points but with a better goal difference of -8 against Le Jeunesse’s -11.
