Floods are a warning

The floods that have wreaked havoc in the north and north-east of the country, inflicting pain and untold suffering is further evidence, if any were needed, that we have to get a grip on global warming if we want to keep such weather conditions at bay.

It is therefore high time the government put in place mechanisms to ready itself for this. We have had many people affected by the floods in different regions of the country and I am sure they need urgent help.

We should be asking ourselves whether Rwanda has a ministry of disaster preparedness, and whether the ministry has an annual budget allocation.
