Game 6 Patriots 78-60 REG

It will be a do-or-die battle on Saturday night as champions Patriots and hopefuls Rwanda Energy Group (REG) face off in epic Game 7 of the playoffs finals at Kigali Arena.

Patriots look to retain the Bank of Kigali National Basketball League title – making it their third in four years – while REG are on pursuit for the club’s second championship.

Henry Mwinuka's Patriots are widely seen as favourites after bouncing back from a 3-1 deficit to level the series 3-3 on Friday night with a 78-60 victory in Game 6.

Small forward Steven Hagumintwari starred with a game-high 17 points to inspire Patriots to the crucial victory, with Dieudonne Ndizeye and Sedar Sagamba contributing 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Cameroon-born shooting guard Beleck Bell led REG with 13 points.

APR crowned

In the meantime, APR have been crowned as champions of the 2018/2019 Women Basketball National League following their Game 6 win over the Hoops Rwanda on Friday.

Guard Sandrine Akintore (22) and small forward Assouma Uwizeye (17) combined for a total 39 points as the army side won 62-54, also at Kigali Arena, to outclass the Hoops Rwanda 4-2 in the best-of-seven playoffs finals.

Courtesy of their league success, APR have confirmed their place in the FIBA Africa Zone V Club Championships next year.
