Now that Rwanda is a member of the East African Community, and the education acquired here has to be as qualitative as the rest of the member countries in order to compete well, extra attention should be placed on education.
We are aware of the limited number of job opportunities in the labour market, so the best will always have an advantage.
It is in this respect that the educational system needs to be streamlined so as to make it as competitive as the rest.
For this reason, extra tuition in schools should be allowed. The fact that classes in Rwanda are full to capacity, not giving teachers’ time to attend to all children, some extra time is needed for the learners.
Extra tuition will cement the existing loopholes that exist within the educational system, thus raise the performance of the pupils.
What has to be born in mind is that the foundation of any meaningful education is hinged on a firm foundation of primary education. Subsequently, having acquired a quality education will enable those pupils compete well.
