Teams from Uganda and Burundi will not take part in this year’s rugby sevens tournament. The teams which were expected to spice up the competition will not participate due to limited resources from the hosts-Remera buffaloes rugby club.

Rugby sevens is an annual seven-a-side tournament organised to kick start the rugby league. The one-day tournament is set for this Saturday at Red Cross rugby grounds.

Eight teams have confirmed participation. Besides Remera Buffaloes who are expected to field two sides, Kigali, Puma, Gorilla, Lion de fers, Simba, Kaduha Tigers and UNR Grizzlies.

"We are a bit disappointed that rugby teams from Uganda and Burundi are not coming but we still expect a tough and competitive tournament,” Rwanda Rugby Federation’s Alex Araire said.
