Rwanda international cyclist Moïse Mugisha flies to France Monday evening where he is set for trials with Sables Vendée with hope to secure a contract.
The development was confirmed to Times Sport by Jean-Bosco Ntembe, president of the rider’s club – Skol Fly Cycling.
The 21-year old will train with the French club for one week before linking up with other members of Team Rwanda at the 2019 Road World Championships scheduled for September 22-29 in Yorkshire, England.
"I want to go beyond this stage and compete in the world’s biggest races,” Mugisha told this publication after winning Rwamagana Circuit over the weekend.
"I am ready to chase my dream in professional cycling, I hope I get the contract with Sables Vendée. It would be a step in the right direction.”
Mugisha rose to prominence last year after winning Karongi Challenge in Rwanda Cycling Cup, and a year later, he is considered as one of the brightest talents in local cycling.
While featuring for Team Rwanda in Tour du Rwanda earlier this year, Mugisha was sensational in most of the stages en route to taking home the jersey for most combative cyclist of the 2.1 UCI Africa Tour race.
Should Mugisha sign with Sables Vendée, he will become the second Rwandan in the club’s current squad, joining Jean-Claude Uwizeye who won Tour de Guyana last month.
