TEAM Rwanda riders will be looking to launch a strong bid for medals on Saturday when they compete in men’s Team Time Trial (TTT) at the ongoing 12th All-Africa Games in Morocco.
It is going to a 59km ride in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, which each team comprising four riders. The race, against the clock, starts at midday CAT.
The Rwandan team comprises Joseph Areruya, Moise Mugisha, Jean Claude Nzafashwanayo and former national champion, Didier Munyaneza.
During the quadrennial event’s 11th edition in 2015, Rwanda won bronze in this particular contest, only after South Africa and Algeria.
After Saturday’s TTT, Areruya and Mugisha will be back in action on Monday vying for honours in Individual Time Trial (ITT) before all the four compete in the main road race on August 29.
Of the four riders, only Areruya was part of the team that represented the country at the 2015 All-Africa Games in Congo-Brazzaville.
This year’s All-Africa Games started August 16, in Morocco, and will be climaxing on August 30. Out of 26 sports, Rwanda is only represented in cycling, beach volleyball and athletics.
