In line with the act of community support, Irembo, in partnership with Our Past Initiative, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to aiding communities affected by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, has assisted 35 families of survivors in Rulindo District.

The donation event, held on May 16, saw Irembo donate 70 goats—two per family—aiming to offer a sustainable source of income and a step towards self-sufficiency for these families.

Liliose Nyinawinkindi, Director of Customer Experience and Service Distribution at Irembo, expressed the company’s commitment to giving back to communities that have endured significant hardships.

"Partnering with Our Past Initiative to provide these families with goats is our way of supporting their journey towards recovery and self-sufficiency. We are honoured to be part of such a meaningful cause,” she said.

Christian Intwari, Founder and Director of Our Past Initiative, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Irembo.

"This partnership allows us to extend our reach and significantly impact the lives of those who have endured unimaginable hardships,” he stated.

He emphasised that the provision of goats aims to offer immediate relief and a sustainable means to improve the livelihoods of these families.
