Nigerian singer and songwriter John Ighodaro, better known as Johnny Drille, will headline the upcoming, Kigali Jazz Junction which is stated for late next month.

The next corporate Jazz event is slated for September 27, at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.

Drille, 29, will open a new season for the Jazz event, which last happened in June when Kenyan rapper Nyashinski and South African vocalist Zahara wowed the audience with an unforgettable performance.

According to the event organisers, the decision to invite the singer came as a response to the audience’s rising requests to bring the legend to Kigali.

"After receiving people’s request of Johnny Drille, we decided to invite him to perform in Kigali on the September 27, so you better get ready and you can start booking your tickets,” reads a post on the monthly Jazz event’s social media.

Concert goers will be looking forward to enjoy the performance of some of his hit songs like ‘Romeo&Juliet’ and ‘Halleluya’, a collaboration with songstress Simi, among many others.

Drille, whose music genre is folk with a feel of RnB, will share the stage with Rwanda’s fast rising homegrown music talent, Sintex who is enjoying the moment of his music career thanks to his songs like Twifunze, You, Akuka among other hits that he has released over the past seven months.

Drille was born and raised in Edo State, Nigeria. He began singing in his father’s church at an early age but rose to fame in 2013 after he established himself as one of the potential contenders for the sixth edition of the MTN Project Fame Academy, Nigeria.

His music talent got bigger exposure after the release of ‘Awww’, which caught the attention of Mavin’s CEO Don Jazzy, who signed him under the label.
