Preparations are underway for Canada-based gospel singer Nice Ndatabaye, as he plots a homecoming live concert in Kigali, on December 8.
The concert dubbed ‘Umbereye Maso Live Concert’ will be the 29-year old singer’s first performance in his homeland since he launched his music career five years ago in Canada.
Born in DR Congo, the singer started singing in a Sunday school at a young age and groomed his talent in church choirs and worship teams.
"That is when I realised that I have talent in singing,” he said.
A few months after he relocated to Canada, in 2014, having completed his university studies in Kenya, he decided to pursue his passion in music professionally.
In 2018, the singer launched his first album in Canada, ‘Umbereye Maso’, graced by renowned gospel musicians Gentil Misigaro and Israel Mbonyi.
The album comprises of a number of songs like Ndahamya, Yesu Ni We, Uri Hejuru, a collaboration with Aime Uwimana, the cover song Umbereyemaso, among others.
The singer revealed that the decision to perform in Kigali was boosted by a series of requests from Rwandans who have fallen in love with his music.
"I am sure people from Rwanda like my music a lot because I have been receiving feedback from many of them. The idea to perform in Kigali came from my fans as they kept requesting me to perform live in Kigali,” said Ndatabaye.
His new song, Iracyakora, created by Rwandan producer Made Beats, is part of the package the singer has in store for his supporters in Rwanda.
"I have a really nice package in store for my people in Rwanda, we have already started rehearsals here and the band from Kigali that will back me on stage is practising so we can deliver to the audience’s satisfaction. I am praying for this concert to be as fantastic as I wish it to be,” revealed Ndatabaye.
"I don’t know how many fans I have there since it is my first performance in Kigali but I am sure we will enjoy the concert. Whether few or many, I can promise only one thing, that I will do my best and enjoy the concert as I am looking forward to meeting my fans and worshipping together because we serve one God,” he added.
The singer has already lined up a number of worship teams, choirs and artists to perform at his concert, although they are yet to confirm their participation.
Before the performance in Kigali, Ndatabaye will have a tour in Tanzania where he was invited to perform during the Freshmanna Church of Edmonton tour slated for November 15-24, and in Kenya for another performance on December 1, before flying to Kigali a day later to join his band for final rehearsals for his concert.
