Rwanda’s beach volleyball teams, men and women, have started early preparations as the country gears up for the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
The four-day event is set for August 21-24 on the shores of Lake Kivu, in Rubavu District.
Speaking to this publication on Thursday, Adalbert Mfashimana, the Rwanda Volleyball Federation’s secretary general, said that two coaches have been appointed to guide the home teams through the prestigious tournament.
The two trainers are; Kenyan Sammy Mulinge, for the men’s teams and Jean Luc ‘Kizungu’ Mbonyuwontuma who will be in charge of the women teams.
Coming in the region for the first time, Times Sport understands that the competition will use a budget of about Rwf350 million.
Men’s teams: Venutse Gatsinzi and Fils Habanzintwali, Christopher Mukunzi and Flavien Ndamukunda as well as the partnership of Alfred Muvunyi and Yves Niyonkuru
Women: Charlotte Nzayisenga and Judith Hakizimana, Louise Muhoza and Hope Musaniwabo and, the pair of Christine Nyirarukundo and Pacifique Umulisa.
