The ‘Shyuha Auto show’, that aimed at showcasing different car brands, especially the vintage mode, returned on Kigali’s entertainment scene in style, over the weekend.
During the showcase, from July 26-28 at Petit Stade in Remera, car and motorcycle enthusiasts showed off the work on their classic and antique vehicles. The event, in its third edition, attracted onlookers of all ages and backgrounds.
Since its inception last year, the show has been held twice, at the beginning of the year, and the other towards the end of the year, and according to the organisers the turn-up has been on a steady rise.
Motorcycles enthusiasts also had an opportunity to see their favourite rides.
According to Robert Kayimbye, one of the organisers of the show, there have been a number of changes that have happened since the show was first introduced in Rwanda.
The organisers provided an interactive insight into the business of cars and motorcycles, and entertained their guests to delicious snacks, drinks, and music that kept them entertained throughout the show.

"First of all, the show was introduced to help bridge the gap between car sellers and buyers…not brokers. We also aimed at show casing the old types of cars that are not common in the country where you find that we had to get some from as far as Goma in the neighbouring country Congo,’’ he said.
"However, it is not only the vintage cars that are showcased because if that was the case, we would only find like only six cars in the entire country,’’ he added.
He also noted that there has been an increase in the turn up, as people have got the essence of the show, because it can be compared to an exhibition for motor vehicles, where banks that have motor vehicle loans, mechanics, and fans meet and talk everything about cars, whilethey enjoy the music and skills by the drivers of the cars and bikers.
Motor enthusiasts had the chance to check out the cars that are rare on the streets of Kigali.
"This is some sort of exhibition that brings together all people that are into the motor vehicle business such as banks, insurance companies, mechanics, traffic police, prospective car buyers, among others,’’ he said.
Kayimbye also noted that this year’s edition has attracted a bigger audience because of the choice of the venue to host the event. He said that the previous editions were held at Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre, (IPRC-Kicukiro).
Other highlights of the event included a concert and motown-themed dance party.
The event ended Sunday, July 28.
