A former minister of justice is due to re-appear before the High Court chambers in Nyamirambo today on Genocide charges.

Agnes Ntamabyariro was in the same court on Monday but the trial was adjourned due to absence of the prosecutor, who was attending to another case.

Ntamabyariro and the accomplices; Fanuel Nsengiyumva, a secretary in Gitarama prosecutor’s office then and Leonard Hategekimana who was the vice prosecutor in the same office, are accused of having participated in the mass killings and other Genocide related crimes.

The trio is accused of having participated in the sensitisation of people for the killings.

They are also alleged to have participated in the murder of Jean Baptiste Nsengiyumva, a former Butare prefect and Modeste Yadusengeye, a businessman in Gitarama, now Southern Province.

Ntamabyariro’s trial has dragged on for long, making her appear 20 times in court and is expected to take sometime. Ntamabyariro was justice minister before during and the 1994 Genocide, which claimed at least one million lives.
