Police FC have unveiled their new signings – players and coaching staff – as the club prepares to challenge for the 2019/2020 Azam Rwanda Premier League title.

The unveiling, held at Kicukiro Stadium on Wednesday, was presided over by Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo.

Also present was Assistant Commissioner of Police Bosco Rangira, the club’s president.

Headed by Burundian Francis Haringingo, Police’s technical staff also includes Claude Rwaka as assistant coach and Ikamba Mpinu Lems, commonly known as Ramadhan Nkunzingoma, who is the team’s new goalkeeping coach.

"I am happy to join Police. They are a team with ambitions to win trophies, and I am pleased to win management’s  trust,” said Haringingo.

Haringingo and Rwaka were coach and assistant coach at Mukura Victory Sport, respectively, last season while Ikamba joined the law enforcers from archrivals Rayon Sports.

He added: "Our target is to revive the name of Police FC, and that means we have to give the best in fighting for titles. All that I request for was given; I have good players and we are ready for the challenge in the new season.”

Striker Justin Mico, who rejoined Police from Kenyan side Sofapaka, is among the new signings at Police, who will be captained by defender Aimable Nsabimana and assisted by winger Dominique Savio Nshuti.

In his welcome remarks, CP Munyambo challenged the team to aim high and promised ‘all possible support’ from the Rwanda National Police.

"We took time to scout for quality players and coaching staff with only one objective; to win trophies. The national police is committed to supporting you, the ball is now in your hands, individual and collective teamwork and commitment will be key to success,” he noted.

"Your vision shouldn’t be just playing for Police or any other local club. This should be your gateway to bigger teams across the world. We are happy to have good leadership that also supports sports and football in particular; seize that opportunity.”
