Rwandan athletes set for camp in Japan ahead of All-Africa Games

A total of fifteen Rwandan athletes are set for intensive preparations in the Japanese city of Hachimantai ahead of the 2019 All-Africa Games, due on August 16-30 in Rabat, Morocco.

Representing three different disciplines namely; beach volleyball, cycling and athletics, the high level training in Japan is aimed at preparing the athletes to perform well in the All-Africa Games in a bid to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The first bunch – of athletics and cycling players – departs the country on Sunday, while the beach volleyball players will leave on July 31.

Men: Olivier Ntagengwa, Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu, Vénuste Gatsinzi and Yves Niyonkuru. Women: Charlotte Nzayisenga, Judith Hakizimana, Bénitha Mukandayisenga and Valentine Munezero. Cycling: Didier Munyaneza, Renus Uhiriwe Byiza, Joseph Areruya and Bernabe Gahemba. Athletics: Noel Hitimana, Félicien Muhitira and Marthe Yankurije.
