FLY Cycling Club youngsters will be looking to put up another impressive performance on Thursday when they take part in their second race in Europe following a shining start last week.

The second race, dubbed "Herbeumont”, is scheduled for Thursday, July 16, where the riders will do 102.4 kilometres.

Moise Mugisha, 21, finished fourth out of 142 riders that started the 117.5km Borsbeke race on Saturday, 19 seconds off the race winner – Belgium David Desmecht.

There was an early breakaway during the second lap, in which about ten riders went ahead, including Mugisha. And, at a certain point mid the race, the gap between the leading group and the rest of the peloton stood at one minute and 20 seconds.

The race had a total 15 laps.

With Desmecht clinching the race, followed by Sieben Devalckeneer and Anthony Spysschaert, in second and third position, respectively, and Gilles De Wilde finishing fifth; Mugisha was the only non-Belgium in top five.

This is the second consecutive year Skol have sent Fly Cycling riders to Europe after the 2018 debut where they did 11 races.

Making their second trip to Europe, courtesy of the Skol Brewery Ltd sponsorship, the seven-rider Fly Cycling team, who are in Belgium since early last week, are set for a total of twenty-five one-day races from July 13 to August 18.

Coached by Team Rwanda legend Adrien Niyonshuti, the youngsters will be back in the country on August 20.
