Rwanda was the only African country that took part in the International Cricket Council (ICC) inaugural Criiio Cup that took place in London.

The tournament brought together teams from Rwanda, Brazil, Germany, England, Indonesia and India to showcase the power and impact of social cricket at Trafalgar Square in central London. 

Rwanda emerged winners in their match against England.

"The beauty about cricket is that it knows no boundaries. You can play the sport anywhere, anytime. It's also a great opportunity to share your experiences with the world and to also learn from the rest,” said Delphine Mukarurangwa, one of the participants from Rwanda.

Rwanda's Criiio team also entertained Trafalgar Square with the Rwandan traditional dance, Amaraba.

Criiio, which is a celebration of all things bat and ball, and brings together the 460 million people playing cricket globally, was launched on the eve of the ICC World Cup. Teams for the Criiio Cup were been selected from around the world based on the impact cricket has had on their communities.

Today, hosts England play New Zealand in the World Cup final at Lord’s.
