With the discovery of computer use and internet in the world, technology has continued to advance and evolve. When it comes to the banking sector, money is the business and this calls for serious security assurance.

Money gram, western union, fina direct, among others erupted to enable money transfer from one place or country to another.

Banks introduced the camera system where a series of cameras are located in angles to help in viewing all bank operations, not forgetting the security guide at the entrance.

Bullet proof glasses could save the lives of those working at the tellers in case of any armed attack. This was indeed perfect for life safety regardless of the cost.

However, another question arose…would the bullet proof glass also be sound proof or not? If yes wouldn’t that cause a dilemma for the customer trying to communicate with the teller?

Imagine a customer withdrawing a lot of money and needs to speak loudly in order for the sound to penetrate the glass…something like, "I want to withdraw USD 1 million”. This, in a bank full of customers of different capacities, interests and motives!

This has called for the Counter Voice Communication set. The set facilitates easy communication between the teller and the customer without calling for speaking so loud. Information is confidential between the teller and the client.

The Counter Voice Communication set comprises of a microphone which at the same time works as a speaker since it receives and sends the message to the Teller.

On the side of the Teller, the system is equipped with an adjustable angle microphone which is used to send information and a loud speaker which enables the teller to hear. The system has two separate knobs that are used to adjust the voice depending on choice.

The system has its own installation which is not at all tapped anywhere in the banking system to ensure that information between the client and the Teller is confidential. It is a long term investment if handled with care. This includes the monthly servicing.

Fina Bank is applying this technology which is apparently supplied by a local IT firm, Dash Technology. According to Fina Bank’s in charge of Consumer Banking, Richard karekezi, the system has neither short nor long term effects against human beings.
