Arsenal fans in Rwanda under the umbrella organisation, Rwanda Arsenal Fan Club Association (RAFC) on Saturday morning donated a green house and mushroom seedlings to Koperative Twiyubake Kinyinya made of elderly survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi located in Gasharu cell, Kinyinya Sector of Gasabo district.

The green house that will now be used to grow mushrooms was in 2017 completely razed down by heavy rains that destroyed the house and mushroom gardens.

For over two years, the association had no place to construct a new house to grow mushrooms until last month when Arsenal fans decided to do their annual Kwibuka event. They got in touch with CNLG and that’s when they got to know of what befell Koperative Twiyubake Kinyinya in 2017.

"When this Kwibuka season started, we approached CNLG for guidance because they are the right people with knowledge of which survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi need support. That is when we got to know about Koperative Twiyubake Kinyinya” explained Apollo Munanura, the president of RAFC.

"We hope that what we have donated today will help them get back to their business and we shall always be available to help them get their produce to potential customers of mushrooms. As Rwandans, we should always be ready to support the communities we live in.” he added.

Speaking to The New Times, the President of  Koperative Twiyubake Kinyinya, Yohani Sezibera thanked RAFC for their support and promised to make sure that the green house will be well kept and profitable to the members of the Cooperative.

 "We thank Arsenal fans in Rwanda for helping us get back to business because with this new green house we now have hope of making profits from our mushroom production” said Judith Umutoniwase, one of the beneficiaries.

Koperative Twiyubake Kinyinya is composed of 28 members and they are 26 females and two men.

Rwanda Arsenal Fan Club Association was formed in 2015 and currently is made up of 300 members.
