The European Union (EU) in collaboration with the government of Rwanda donated 30 Motorcycles and 30 computers to departments in charge of cooperatives in various districts to help them develop their activities.
The donations were presented to the district mayors yesterday at Hotel La Palisse Nyandungu by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Monique Nsanzabaganwa.
The leaders had also come together to discuss the implementation and accountability of local government programs.
"These computers and Motorcycles are going to help the workers in charge of cooperatives in districts in the smooth running of their daily errands. This will do away with the tendency to blame lack of equipment for not executing tasks on time,” Nsanzabaganwa emphasized.
All 30 districts of the country received the equipment. The participants were also briefed on the progress of the repatriation of Rwandan refugees from the jungles of DR Congo and on the progress of the Audit team which was given the task of investigating the misuse of building materials that were meant to construct houses for the needy around the country.
On the same note, Protais Musoni the Minister of Local Government vowed that all officials who were involved in the misuse and diverting of the building materials would be put to book by all means, adding that the building of the houses will be complete by the end of this year.
