If you’re a concertgoer and wondering what is happening in Kigali next Saturday, July 27, you are sorted.

The Mane Music Management, a local events company, has announced that East African recording artiste and dancer Sheebah Karungi will headline the inaugural Kigali Summer Fest.

The "Weekend” songstress joins the line-up of local artistes including Riderman, Bruce Melodie, Sintex, Amalon, Safi Madiba, Queen Cha, Marina and Jay Polly.

Belgium-based Rwandan Flora Nyirimbabazi, aka DJ Princess.

Sheebah’s voice might be familiar to many, as the diva has previously performed in the country, and has collaborated on songs with Rwanda’s music stars; like "Binkolera” with The Ben, and "Embeera”, featuring Bruce Melodie.

The inaugural Kigali Summer Fest will be held at the parking ground of Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.

Festival-goers will also enjoy entertainment by other local artistes Social Mula, DJ Pius, Active, Bushali, Uncle Austin, and Belgium-based DJ Princess.

The concert is organised in conjunction with MTN Rwanda, which will give promotional tickets to its Yolo subscribers. According to the telecommunication company, all Yolo subscribers will only pay Rwf3000, instead of Rwf5000 (regular) and Rwf10 000 (VIP).

While addressing the news conference on Wednesday, Ramadhan Mupende, the Mane CEO, said: "We organised the festival in the summer because it’s the time most Rwandans in Diaspora are back home, and we thought that a music festival is something everyone, especially the youth, will be looking forward to,” said Mupende. "We have a line-up of local artistes, because we want to give them a platform through which they can gain more exposure of their music before their audience,” added Mupende.

He said that Kigali Summer Fest will be annual to promote the local music scene, and to give visibility to Rwandan artistes. The festival begins at 5pm and runs until late.
