Gisagara and national team left-attacker Willcliff Dusengimana is one of the three Rwandan players who are set for professional trials in Europe this August.
The trio also includes Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu and Benitha Mukandayisenga. The latter was named the Most Valuable Player of the just concluded 2018/2019 women’s national volleyball league.
Her side, UTB, clinched the title on first attempt after beating then seven-time reigning champions, RRA, in the playoffs finals.
Times Sport understands that the three will first train with different teams in Turkey before moving to Bulgaria for more trials, and the most impressive will be given contracts.
Dusengimana who has established himself as one of the best spikers, in local volleyball, in the last two years; told this publication in an exclusive interview on Saturday that he looks forward to the trials and he is ready to take up his volleyball to a professional level.
"I am glad for the opportunity to turn Pro. I will do my best in trials, and hope that my best is convincing for a contract,” said the 21-year old.
"Playing professional volleyball would be a dream come true.”
Dusengimana was also full of praise for Paul Bitok who is behind the trials opportunity. The young revealed to us that the ‘air-tickets and travel papers are already sorted’.
Kenyan tactician Bitok, whose contract as the national team coach runs out this week, told Times Sport in a separate interview that he has confidence in the three players and urged them to start personal training so they can land contracts after their trials.
