APR FC chairman, Col. Richard Karasira, has confirmed that club head coach Thierry Froger will not continue with the club next season.

The Army-side celebrated their remarkable 22nd league title in 30 years during their final match of the 2023/24 season against Amagaju FC at Kigali Pele Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Despite guiding the team to the title undefeated, Karasira said that the club won’t extend Froger’s contract next season.

"We will not renew his contract,” said Karasira.

"However, if he's interested, we'll give him the opportunity to compete with others who want a chance for next season. We'll see if he has fulfilled our expectations and apply for the job like other candidates. But for now, his contract has expired, just like some players,” he added.

Despite winning the league title, APR weren’t as impressive as the club management expected under coach Froger.

The club was eliminated from the Peace Cup quarterfinals by Gasogi United months after losing the Super Cup final to Rayon Sports.

They also lost the Heroes Cup final to Police FC besides their elimination from the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
