Tanzania and Ugandan teams – boys and girls - are expected in Kigali Sunday afternoon ahead of this year’s FIBA U-16 Africa Zone V Championships.
The week-long regional competition, which will also serve as qualifiers for the African Championships, start Monday and will run through June 15 at Amahoro Stadium.
By press time Saturday, Egypt and Ethiopia were yet to confirm whether – or not – they would be part of the tournament.
Talking to Sunday Sport, Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) president, Desire Mugwiza, asserted that "everything is in place for a successful competition.”
While the hosts will be battling for a ticket to the men’s Afrobasket U16 finals tournament, their girls’ counterparts are guaranteed of qualification since Rwanda will accommodate the African Championship, in August.
