Emeran’s Groningen promoted to Eredivisie

Rwandan winger Noam Emeran will be playing in the Dutch Eredivisie with Groningen during the 2024/25 season after finishing second in the second tier league known as Eerste Divisie.

Groningen defeated Roda JC Kerkrade 2-0 on Friday, May 10, at the Euroborg and eventually leapfrogged them to second place on the table with 75 points. The pair are tied with 75 points but Emeran’s side finished second ahead of their opponents with a goal difference of plus 41.

The "Pride of the North" make a return to Dutch topflight football after being relegated during the 2022/23 season where they finished bottom of the table.

Emeran joined Groningen in August 2023 for a reported fee of £850,000 and played 12 times for the senior team providing one assist.

FC Groningen is one of the best teams in the Netherlands. The club is mostly known for player development, having produced renowned footballers like Ronald Koeman, Arjen Robben, Luis Suarez, Tim Matavz, Virgil Van Dijk and others who went on to become top players in the world.
