Rwandatel has launched a new valentine promotional package known as ‘Choose Your Pair’. This will be Rwandatel´s first promotion that started yesterday. It is presented as a duo opportunity and a duo package that comes with a pair of SIM packs.

Officials explained that when a customer buys a pair of SIM cards at Rwf2,000, he is allowed to choose a telephone number of his choice from a specified range of numbers. He then gets the next number in line as his second number to give to his valentine.

Each SIM card comes with Rwf1,000 worth of airtime and 100 free SMS. Additionally, the package allows users within the bracket to make calls to each other from 22h00-23h00 for free.

According to Rwandatel’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Patrick Kariningufu, the package is also intended to attract more clients with more exciting services, as the company gears up to increase its clientele.

"Currently, we have about 200,000 active subscribers as of 11th February, in barely two months since switching to the GSM technology, representing a 15 percent market share,” he explained.

"With the new promotional package in place, the company targets about more 150,000 subscribers by end of March when the campaign ends. Another exciting package will also come up thereafter,” he added.

Rwandatel targets 600,000 subscribers by June and a double by December this year.

However the launch of the ‘Choose Your Pair’ also marked the end of double your voucher, where every top-up of airtime was 100 percent doubled.

This was launched at the inauguration of the 3G GSM technology last year.
