REG Vs Gisagara 18:00

There will be so much at stake when Rwanda Energy Group (REG) host Gisagara in Game 3, the last of the best-of-three finals, of the volleyball playoffs on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium.

REG will make history should they bounce back from Game 2 defeat, of last Saturday at Gisagara Gymnasium, to claim the highly anticipated Game 3, a win that would see them lifting their first national volleyball league title.

With both league giants level 1-1 after the first two games, Game 3 is guaranteed to be a much heated affair. Should Elie Mutabazi’s Gisagara run winners, they will become the first side to win the title three times in a row since APR in 2009.

Two-time reigning champions, Gisagara, will be looking to replicate their form after seeing off REG in straight sets (25-21, 25-21 25-17) in Game 2, while Benon Mugisha’s men seek to take stock of the home advantage again, having won Game 1 at Petit Stade earlier this month.

"It’s a winner-take-all match; our minds and souls are fully invested in it,” REG head coach Mugisha stressed. "Whatever the result; we will leave the court knowing that we gave it the best we could.”

"This is our most important game this season.”

In a separate interview, Mutabazi, of Gisagara, said that he hoped his players will carry it from where they left off in Game 2, and clinch their a third successive title.

He noted: "It is going to be a tough game on both sides. I just hope we don’t make similar petty mistakes that cost us in Game 1. I have told my players to keep cool heads, and focus on perfecting their game.”

"If we play like we did last weekend, there is no doubt we will retain the title.”
