Rwandan cyclists Moïse Mugisha and Didier Munyaneza are determined to make the best of a new professional experience out of Rwanda after joining French club Pédale Pilotine.
Based in Martinique, a Caribbean island, the club was in the past home to two other Rwandan riders - Joseph Areruya and Jean Claude Uwizeye.
Mugisha and Munyaneza who joined the club earlier this month will soon be competing for it at the GRANPRI, a cycling race slated between May 10-13.
"We are really excited to join this club. It is new journey and new ambitions. We are looking forward to doing the best we can,” Munyaneza told Times Sport.
Munyaneza most recently played for local club Benediction Cycling Club, while Mugisha most recently competed for Team Rwanda and Java-InovoTec. Both riders are 26-years-old.
"We know it will be difficult but we are ready for the new challenge. It is something that came as a blessing to us and we are going to work hard so that we can improve the competitiveness of our new team,” Munyaneza added.
The arrival of the two Rwandan riders at the French club was a necessity, according to Gustave Joachin Arnaud, its president.
"Maybe I wouldn't have brought them in if that hadn't been the case. Now, I am preparing for the Tour with two good riders, I have the right team. We will also have Martinicians in the team, we will see what that will be like for the races to come," he said.
Mugisha is renowned for his mountains climbing prowess, while Munyaneza is a good sprinter.
