Christophe Mudahinyuka, the women’s national volleyball team coach, has challenged his players to win the upcoming CAVB Africa Zone 5 championships for a ticket to the 2019 All-Africa Games.
The regional showpiece is scheduled for May 18-25 in Kampala, Uganda.
Each of the seven African zones will produce a winner who will join the hosts Morocco, in Rabat, for the women’s volleyball event at the 12th All-Africa Games, due August.
"We will go there with calm heads, and focused minds. We have set ourselves a target of winning the tournament, and ticket to the All-Africa Games,” said Mudahinyuka.
"The players have been working hard in camp, and are showing a high level of commitment. I am happy with their level of fitness, and the will to learn and improve.”
When asked the opponent his side should wary about the most, Mudahinyuka did not hesitate to single out Kenya and Egypt as the major threats to his side’s quest for gold in Uganda.
The hosts Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia will also take part in the week-long competition.
