AS Kigali Women Football Club coach Shaban Mbarushimana has urged his players not to undermine lowly AS Kabuye on Saturday as they battle to keep up with leaders Scandinavia in the women’s national football league.

Ten-time champions AS Kigali visit AS Kabuye this afternoon at Kabuye grounds.

"We cannot afford to lose focus at this point. We have to continue working hard and improving every week so we don’t slip up further in the title race. All my players are available, and fit for the [AS Kabuye] fixture,” said Mbarushimana.

Rubavu-based Scandinavia thrashed AS Kigali 3-0 last month to take a clear lead at the summit after both rivals had gone into the match with maximum points from their first seven games this term.

Scandinavia, who are competing in the women’s league for the second year, host Kamonyi on Sunday.

After nine match rounds, Scandinavia top the table with a perfect 27 points, AS Kigali are in second spot with 24 points, Rambura third with 17 points, while ES Mutunda sit in fourth with 16.

Strugglers Gakenke lie at the bottom with only one point.
