Rwanda’s continental representatives Atraco and APR are gearing up for their return legs of the Caf competitions set for this weekend at Amahoro stadium.
League champions Atraco have started residential training ahead of their clash with Sudanese champions El Merreikh set for this Sunday.
Head coach Sam Timbe told Times Sport yesterday that his players are focused and ready for the Merreikh encounter.
The taxi-men club which camping at Isano Motel in Gikondo; a Kigali suburb, are doing daily double training sessions at Remera artificial turf.
According to Timbe, Atraco have no injury worries to think about, and the return of skipper Tom Ssemwogere is a major boost for the local league champions, who need to win the return leg 1-0 against Merreikh to reach the next round. The taxi-men lost 2-1 in the first leg.
Meanwhile, record nine-time league champion APR start their preparations for the return leg against Gor Mahia today.
Their Dutch coach Rene Feller noted yesterday that his teams has only three training sessions, starting today (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday. I will maintain the same team which played in the first leg in Kenya and the tactics will be almost the same.
"We are in good shape and every player is focused on winning the return leg against Gor Mahia,” Feller said, adding that Jean Mugiraneza (toe) and goalie Jean Ndoli (knee) are most likely to miss the game on Saturday.
The military side drubbed Kenya’s Gor Mahia 5-0 drubbing in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup last Sunday a week.
