Rayon Vs APR
APR FC striker Muhadjiri Hakizimana says archrivals Rayon Sports are the only obstacle between his side and the league title as the race enters the final turn.
The two Azam Rwanda Premier League giants go head-to-head on April 20, at Kigali Stadium, with a lot at stake on either side.
Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, they are separated by six points. Rayon Sports will host the tie and have so far garnered 48 points after 22 matches, while seventeen-time champions APR lead the table with 54 points, having recorded 17 wins, three draws and two defeats.
"We will go into the game [against Rayon Sports] with purpose of extending the gap. I believe they are the only obstacle standing between us and the title,” the former Mukura forward told Sunday Sport on Friday.
"It’s going to be tough, with Rayon seeking to turn their title prospects around. Our goal is to deny them that chance, and to prevent the last minute pressure.
Rayon Sports will be looking to go three points within of the army side, and hope they also drop points in their last fixtures against Bugesera, SC Kiyovu and AS Kigali, respectively.
Hakizimana further added: "We know the task ahead, because we are facing our all-time rivals. So, the motivation won’t be a problem. We are fit to fight for the important three points.”
The former SC Kiyovu and Etincelles forward has scored ten goals, and is only two goals behind joint leaders Djuma Nizeyimana (SC Kiyovu) and Rayon Sports striker, Jules Ulimwengu.
The topflight league resumes Saturday, April 20, after three weeks of break as the sports fraternity joined the country in the 25th commemoration for the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
